SURVEY REPORT

India’s Youth on Climate & Health

A survey report on five perspectives of young people on climate change & health you should know

1. METHODOLOGY

An online survey, comprising 15 questions, was rolled out from July to November 2023 through a digital platform in the English language. It was taken by 819 respondents and aims to understand young people's perspectives on the causes, perceived threats, and impacts of climate change, particularly on human health.

2. INSIGHTS

Young people recognise climate change as a serious threat and are concerned about the effects on their physical and mental health. While they are eager to engage in efforts to address it, they lack a deeper understanding of the root causes and long-term impacts of climate change.

3. OPPORTUNITIES

Young people have the potential to engage with and add impetus to mainstream climate programs. By empowering them with deep knowledge, equipping them with the right skills, amplifying their voices, and actively involving them in decision-making, we can work towards a sustainable future.

Inspired by the insights and opportunities in the report, the Youth Climate Collective is conducting a webinar titled 'Bridging Perspectives: Integrating youth voices in climate action'.
Date: 5th June from 5 pm to 6 pm IST. We have limited seats, sign-up here!

WHAT WE DO

Exploring & addressing youth’s concerns at the intersection of climate, health and beyond

We are building digital platform that facilitates dynamic exchange between young people, decision-makers, and climate focused organisations by igniting collective action and integrating youth participation into mainstream climate policies, programs and solutions.

OUR APPROACH

We are prioritizing exploring climate change's impact on human health, the environment, and well-being of young people. In parallel, we are exploring avenues to expand this model to engage young people in other emerging and developing markets as well as grow beyond health to education, livelihoods, mental health among other sectors.

To drive engagement, the platform will initiative a two-way dialogue between youth at one end and mainstream public as well as private climate organisations at the other end:

01

We will elevate hyperlocal needs and aspirations of young people around climate and health from their immediate surroundings and use it to facilitate constructive learning with public and private climate-focused organisations to enable action.

02

Through our diverse and vast network of young people, we will provide a sandbox environment, connecting youth to mainstream private and public climate organisations, to generate ideas, inputs on policies and programs, rapid prototype early solution ideas and stress-test implementation plans.

Young people are not only victims of climate change;
they are active change agents with potential to contribute to climate action.

HOW IT WORKS

Our 3 point agenda

The Youth Climate Collective platform will anchor on 3 key areas. This will ensure a holistic approach such that knowledge, practice, and policy inform one another, creating an end-to-end process for systemic change.
